Rope team

The exact rules, in plain words — no small print elsewhere.

In climbing, a rope team is the group you are tied to. Hand your code to a family who would use a better instrument: they start with a longer Pro trial, and when they actually use it, you earn Pro time.

What counts as an invitation

An invitation counts when a new family comes through your code, finishes a placement (24 questions) and has a confirmed email address. They can come either way round:

Not a click, and not a sign-up alone — those are too easy to fake, and rewarding them would turn this into a numbers game. Not a purchase either: you should be handing on an instrument, not selling one. Your own code does not count for your own account.

What each side gets

When it is honoured

Each invitation is recorded the moment it counts, and the tally is on your account page. If you have a paid subscription running, the days are added to it straight away and we email you the new payment date. If you do not yet (you are on the free trial, or only receive the Sunday page), the days are kept and added the moment you subscribe, and we email you then. Anything recorded stays recorded.

What we count, and what we do not

We count how many families came through your code and finished a placement. We never tell you who they are. When a family opens a parent account with your code, our records note which code it came through, so that the invitation can count; nothing about them appears on your account page except the count. There is no leaderboard, and we will never publish or compare invitation counts.

Limits, so it stays honest

We can change these rules for future invitations, but anything already earned stays earned. Questions: [email protected].
